their environment. The MAB Programme promotes interdisciplinary

to a better understanding of the environment, including global change,

but also to a greater engagement of science and scientists in the

development of policies related to the wise use of biological and

cultural diversity. The International Secretariat of the MaB Programme

is located at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, and its governing body is 
            
15
the International Coordinating Council (ICC), composed from time to 
            
16
time, on a rotating basis, of thirty-four States from among UNESCO's 
            
17
Member States. The Executive Bureau is composed of six members, one 
            
18
from each of the six world regions of the United Nations, one of whom 
            
19
is the President and the others are Vice-Presidents. Each country that 
            
20
is interested and committed to implementing this Programme must 
            
21
organise a National Commission or MaB Committee with an advisory, 
            
22
coordinating and action management character, which includes as 
            
23
members representatives of the organisations and institutions most 
            
24
closely related to the contents of the MAB Programme. For the 
            
25
implementation of its work in the field, the MAB Programme focuses its 
            
26
actions on the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, promoting the 
            
27
exchange of knowledge between reserves, research and monitoring, 
            
28
education, training and participatory decision-making. Geographic data 
            
29
are provided by the various competent administrations.\r\nThe last 
            
30
declaration was for the Ribeira Sacra e Serras do Oribio e Courel
